On April 5, on the day of blood donation, the Italian Red Cross built an advanced medical post using funds received through cryptocurrency donations. In less than a month, the Italian Red Cross managed to raise $ 32,000. $ 22,000 was used to finance the construction of the first advanced medical post in the town of Castel Gandolfo near Rome.

Bruno PIETROSANTI, the president of the Italian Red Cross says:

«With great pleasure, we reached the first main milestone of our fundraising. We are happy to have turned the received donations into a tangible aid and we are excited to have received so much help from the Bitcoin community».

Davide MENEGALDO, COO of Helperbit, the firm that organized the Red Cross crypto campaign, said blood donation days will be held at least once every two weeks over the next four months. He added that the Red Cross team plans to place more equipment bought with bitcoin donations.

At the global level, the Red Cross has spent 2,195 bitcoins to date; the fee amounted to 0.55% of the total fees, which emphasizes the efficiency of cryptocurrencies for donations. 97% of the donations were in the form of BTC, 3% in altcoins.
